Earth Stories and Living Smaller

Blue Dot Films just got back from a production  overseas! We spent two weeks filming in Belize and Guatemala for our first installment in our new series: Earth Stories. A unique look at illegal immigration from a close friend that lived in the United States illegally for over four years, it offers a look at the human and emotional cost of the journey that led him to a better life and future for his family.

While we were there we took the opportunity to film a few segments for another production of ours: Living Smaller, a documentary on the future of housing. We lived on a sail boat with Captain Jim Gregory of the Lorena for a week to experience life at sea in a small environment. To give you an idea, Jim's boat is sixty feet long and sixteen feet wide. While his boat is mostly custom and has incredible space saving and maximizing features, not all of the footage on the boat is livable space. What we learned is that to live at sea, you need to be as self sufficient and sustainable as possible; kind of like our idea for the future of home ownership. With natural resources in the world diminishing, and the human race reaching unprecedented numbers in population, our approach to living may need to have a more efficient and sustainable approach.
